Not being familiar with Derrida I would like the opinions of the forum on this critical appraisal.

I think he's angry about some required reading for a philosophy course...

Do you think too much pressure is placed on blacks to be like whites?

Why would/should whites care?

...and it begs the question: what's the difference? (implied that blacks are non-philosophers perhaps?)

Expressing an opinion on a particular philosopher via the internet. Why should this require critical appraisal?

Because due to slavery and all the bad things we've done to non-whites we have a moral responsibility to care?

I am a liberal you know.

Indeed, a fascinating question which opens a whole can of worms.

I look forward to exploring this question with you further as time permits.

At least we are in agreement that this is no critical appraisal.

Are you making a point?

This is ultimately the problem with opinions isn't it? You can criticize it all you like. In the end it is only an opinion. Yours or mine.

Who defines what is moral and what is not?

You are implying that whites have a moral responsibility to non-whites, because we enslaved them in the past?

Yet, queerly, you believe that whites do not enslave all others now...?

What does a liberal have to do with anything? Are you implying to me that you feel guilty for what other people do (or may, may not have done) because they share your skin color?

Why?

It will be some time I believe before that can gets opened.

Generally, I see discussing race with other "whities" as rather redundant. But of course, we may go there nonetheless.

I haven't read Derrida.

I can summarize your 4+ minute video into this sentence (and would have saved us 4 minutes of watching the whole video):

Derrida is very difficult to understand, therefore I deride his philosophy except for his present-day, ubiquitous notion of deconstruction.

Do you think too much pressure is placed on blacks to be like whites?

It may only seem like that. There is much pressure on everyone to be intelligent. Whites were the most prominent people to get there. If blacks had reached the peak of knowledge first, whites would have been discriminated upon and enslaved.

Whole Racism has to occur in all 4 dimensions of reality.

1. Individual Racism (you believe in racism)
2. Other Individual Racism (you don't believe in racism but someone else does)
3. A Society Believes in Racism (Jim Crow South where whites and blacks believed in racism)
4. Laws Written In Favor of Racism

Today in America, dimension 4 has been erradicated. Dimension 3 is fuzzy in the Deep South, dimension 2 and 1 exist though they are less prevalent when you reach a level of scholarship.
